DeKalb History Center Wedding, Atlanta, Georgia

The Historic DeKalb Courthouse acts as the perfect architectural backdrop for an intimate, modern wedding, located in the heart of Atlanta. With stunning lines and gorgeous curves, it’s not a surprise as to why it’s one of the cities most popular wedding venues, right downtown. Amy Towers of A Dream Woven Events and I were inspired by the venue’s beautiful lines and architecture, a gorgeous contrast to The South’s typical barn venue.

We were inspired by couples who often return to our beloved state for their weddings, and wanted to inspire others by showcasing traditional lines and how they contrast with contemporary elements, textures, and slight pops of color.

Our bride and groom, Camila and Christian, are well-traveled, young professionals who value the guest experience as much as the event’s beauty. For the ceremony vignette, we incorporated greenery and driftwood elements, designed by Amanda Jewel Floral and Design – the center aisle being adorned with beautiful taper candles. For many couples, incorporating a lounge during cocktail hour is a necessity, and 12th Table had beautiful, Scandinavian-inspired pieces that went along well with our Japanese-inspired Sake Bar. We had a gorgeous marble-styled cake created by Gingerspice Bakery. Custom pieces from I Do Linens and TableMade adorned our beautiful head table, featuring various nuts and a beautiful centerpiece.

Our bride was adorned in custom pieces created by Kendra Scott, as well as a stunning gown from the Gown Collective, a boutique in Atlanta. Margaret Snider, the hair and makeup artist, gave our bride a gorgeous modern wave, and a bold, defined makeup look, along with her girls, who wore stunning Bridesmaids dresses from BHLDN. Our groom wore a custom suit from The Modern Gent, and said his vows which were written in hand-lettered calligraphy by Isidore and Augustine.

This beautiful day was published in print in Modern Luxury Wedding’s Winter/Spring 2019 issue, which you can see here.
