The Tension of Creating

Beaulieu Oaks, Savannah, Georgia Wedding

It’s easy to feel discouraged as an artist.
At least, lately, for me.
Art is subjective. Trends are loud.
And when your livelihood depends on how your work is received it can feel like you’re chasing something that keeps changing shape.

There’s this tension.
Stay relevant. Stay inspired. Stay true.
Make something honest, but make sure it performs.
Make sure it stands out, somehow.

Photography, especially, feels like a letting go.
So much is outside your control.
Light. Weather. Emotion. Timing.
Humans.
You show up, you try to see, you try to feel everything with them.

Lately, I (Hannah) have been going back through old work: Letting it remind me.
Why I started.
What I still love.
That I AM talented and have so much to give.
To have an even deeper gratitude for those who’ve trusted us along the way. Who see the vision, and give us a chance.

Somehow, that quiet remembering?
It’s enough to keep going.
