Maggie & Cameron | Meadowlark 1939 Wedding

Maggie and Cameron wed this past Saturday at a gorgeous venue located just south of the heart of Atlanta called Meadowlark 1939. The day was graced with beautiful tones of blushes, creams, and touches of gold as these two said “I do” in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. Witnessing this day was truly an honor, because these to share at such a tenderness that leaves onlookers breathless. We loved being able to hear how the Lord worked in their lives, and it is unmistakable that these two are perfect together.

Meadowlark is a family owned historic Estate spanning over the course of 13 acres. Filled with formal gardens, the estate features hand sculpted statues, and a beautiful 150 year old pecan tree that serves as the main vantage point in front of the beautiful historic home. The home is called the Ingram house, featuring historic molding and Tall beautiful windows that complement a stunning fireplace. These elements intertwined so beautifully with Maggie’s custom Leanne Marshall Gown from The Sentimentalist. What made the day even more meaningful was that Maggie did all of the flowers by herself along with her matron of honor, Meredith, foraging goods from the grounds.

A groundskeeper maintains the beauty of the estate with a stunning greenhouse nestled on the south side of the venue. The entire venue is picturesque, leaving visitors feeling as if they walked into a secret garden which features a vast array of blooms including cherry blossoms, irises dogwoods, wisteria, vibernum, peonies, and southern ivy. These two celebrated their love for one another under the grandeur of the giant pecan tree, singing hymns with those nearest to their hearts and sharing communion together after an exchange of heirloom family rings and hand-lettered vows (the bride also happens to be a calligrapher and owns Confetti Press). Afterwards, guests enjoyed wonderful lawn games and cocktails throughout the estate, soon after being joined by this precious bride and groom.

Maggie and Cameron, I am so thankful to have been a part of your beautiful wedding day, and am so excited for you both as you begin this new chapter in life together! You both are such a testament of joy and light in this world, and your love for one another is truly so beautiful. Thank you for trusting me to be a part of your wedding day!

Rachel & Ryan | Couples’ Photos

Rachel Is a wedding planner here in Atlanta, and I’m so excited because after years of knowing her, we finally get to work together on a wedding for next year! I met Rachel about two years ago when she had recently gotten married and with starting her wedding planning business, called Slauer Events.  Rachel reached out to me over social media and asked me to meet for coffee to talk about her new business that she was hoping to open. At first I’ll be honest, I was still in school and balancing a lot and I almost turned her down. However I’m so happy that I did not! Rachel has been a dear friend of mine and we share a common love for Jesus and beautifully designed weddings. I distinctly remember during our first conversation how much I loved her sweet heart and gentle spirit. She loved Jesus and I knew immediately I wanted to be friends with her. I also remember that we talked a lot about how do we incorporate our faiths into our business, since we don’t always have the opportunity to share the gospel openly.  This has been a theme of discussion for us over the last few years and she has been  such an encouragement to me and my friend Erin Ryser!

Rachel and I have had the opportunity to work together on various styled shoot’s, which are great to build portfolios. I have a whole spiel on why styled shoots are important, but that aside, what I absolutely love about Rachel during styled shoot’s is that she is so organized, and has a great eye for style and design. Everything that we’ve worked on together has been published and it has been absolutely incredible.

What I love about Rachel during styled shoots is that she is so organized and has a great eye for style and design. Not only that, she completely trusts my photography skills and my ideas. Everything that we’ve worked on together has been wedding oriented and has been featured in publications. I’m so grateful for her since it wouldn’t be possible without her!

Last year, Rachel asked my boyfriend and me to model for a styled shoot that she was hosting with another photographer in downtown Savannah, Georgia. Both of us and our guys arrived the day before the shoot, and decided that we would all go together to the Historic Wormsloe Site and Plantation. Rachel and Ryan have a joy that’s so evident and sweet together. Rachel was newly pregnant, and expecting her first little one with her husband Ryan. I just so happened to bring along my camera on that day, and I had the opportunity to photograph the two of them for a few moments.

Since our time together, Rachel is a new mom and her wedding planning business is growing exponentially. She now has a incredible team underneath her and is balancing motherhood so well, something I aspire to do.

She’s also moving up north so that Ryan can finish his residency! Lots of change for the sweet family, but I’m so grateful for their friendship and I cannot wait to see what happens for them!

I hope you enjoy the photos below!

6 books that will transform your entire mindset

I truly believe it’s important to actively invest in yourself and stay up to date with some of the best business and marketing minds in the industry. Although I'm not a reader, these books stopped me in my tracks and shifted the entire way I thought about business and marketing.

I was a marketing major in undergrad, so naturally I tend to gravitate to books that have to do with the subject! Here are some of my favorite books that will be a the kick in the shin you need and that will inspire you to take action:

All Marketers are Liars - SO GOOD. And it’s not what you think. This shifted my entire approach to marketing with integrity and having a heart of service.

The War of Art - Everyone needs to read this. It’s good for anyone who wants to do something purposeful in life. While it is written with the assumption that the reader is in the midst of a creative/entrepreneurial venture, it’s a must-read for anyone!

SPIN Selling - This is how I approach all of my phone consultations. It’s such a good method to help you keep a mental checklist of what to cover and goes to the heart of truly trying to understand your client and only recommend what is best.

How to Write Copy that Sells - Your sales copy is so important; and most others know when you’re trying to sell something. This is the book that teaches you how to be a salesperson without being “salesy”.

Never Eat Alone - I’m still working through this but it’s a great book about building connections and relationships with others with intention.

#Girlboss - Just an overall great motivational book. I love this since it shows that anyone can build something great from the ground up and tells the story of Sophia, who built an empire with nothing.

How I use Dubsado as a Fine Art Film Wedding Photographer

Dubsado is CRM that is powerful and has transformed my business. CRM stands for customer relationship management, and is an online system that handles various workflows and keeps contact information available for all of my clients. It allows for me to make sure that I am in constant communication with all of my clients throughout their wedding planning process, no matter where they are. While most of my clients get married in Atlanta and book me for their photographer, I’ll also use this system to keep track of my portrait leads and coaching clients to help ensure they all are taken care of.

The user interface is one of the easiest ones I’ve ever used and it has an incredibly mobile-friendly website, too! I have tried many other CRM platform systems but what I have found is that most were either too tedious to set up, complicated, or that their user interface was clunky. The fonts and colors are incredibly pleasing to the eye, which is important especially if you’re a busy business owner who’s constantly staring at their computer screen.

Bulletproof Contracts

As a entrepreneur, having contracts is a essential to running a business  so that both parties understand what the agreement is and what the terms are. When planning a wedding, most of my clients will book me a year in advance, so having everything written out and in a online spot for them to refer to has always been helpful. Dubsado serves as a platform that allows for my clients to sign their agreement electronically within seconds. Not only does it allow for my bride and groom to sign, but I am also able to send a second contract to their parents to sign with a click of a button. This process used to take me about a day or two to complete, as I had my couples print out the contract and send it to me in a hardcopy format.

Furthermore,  what I love about this platform is that easy drag and drop user interface that allows for me to create up my contacts and online forms within seconds. All I need to do is drag a text box or signature field! The company also has a plethora of resources in their media library of with multiple kinds of contracts to use as templates, which is perfect for entrepreneurs who need a starting point when creating their own agreements.

sophisticated and clean design

Another thing that I absolutely love about the Dubsado platform is the sophisticated and clean design of their invoices and forms. Dubsado has made it so that small business owners are empowered and able to make the system entirely their own, by allowing users to use their own specific logo and branding elements rather than having “Dubsado” plastered over every element; something that few other platforms allow.

I also love that there are code blocks, which allow for me to customize my forms using HTML and CSS! It takes my system’s aesthetic to the next level. Invoices are automatically generated based on the collection that a client decides, with payment plans and automatic e-mail reminders sent to my clients (because I hate personally reminding people of payments, I love that Dubsado will do this for me)! With these elements, my time in front of the computer is drastically reduced!

Oh, and not only are the invoices and forms and contracts beautiful, but the platform also acts as a payment processing platform, allowing clients to select a package, sign a contract, receive an invoice, and make their first payment all in a single page. Dubsado has a diverse range of payment options, collaborating with platforms like PayPal, Stripe, and other major credit card processing companies. There’s also an option for clients to add gratuity! Personally, I use and recommend the ACH option as it is wonderful for business owners who are wanting to reduce incurred transaction fees.

Impeccable customer service

Dubsado is constantly updating their system and always listens to their community and strives to accommodate system update requests and adds new updates incredibly frequently. I’ve been so surprised at just how much has happened since the only signing up last autumn! They’ve integrated their own appointment scheduler on top of their own bookkeeping system that will sync to Quickbooks Self Employed. Another thing that blows me away is their customer service which is remarkable - if I ever have a question, their community on Facebook is eager to help and their staff is available nearly 24/7 on live chat directly within the platform.

I use Dubsado to set up my workflow which tracks leads and includes automated emails that go out at specific checkpoints before their event (ie: sends out a vendor recommendation e-mail 2 days after booking, another e-mail 2 days after that, and so on). The emails will only go out at designated office hours, as well, which has been great to help set boundaries for my clients. My management system also send out forms and proposals automatically for me, and even responds to inquiries while I am sleeping, which was a huge selling point for me.

The Best CRM (Customer Relationship Management System) for a wedding photographer

This platform has been the best investment for my business and it’s allowed for me to focus on other areas of my company that before, have fallen to the wayside (like marketing, or writing blog posts, like these!) The key to starting to use a CRM is to start BEFORE you need it; if you try to transition during a time where your business is busy, you might have difficulty with the learning curve that comes with using a new system. Honestly, I would not be sure how I’d keep up with all of my clients, leads, and responsibilities if I wasn’t utilizing Dubsado and it’s a tool that everyone needs to use!
